Imka Community Development Organization was established in 2019 by Betty Nantumbwe with the aim of helping her community especially Women who are dealing with Domestic violence have a voice, eliminate poverty and be able to sustain their families. With her lived experience being a survivor of domestic violence, Betty, through Imka community Development Organization saw the need to give hope to those who feel left out and abandoned by the systems of Uganda. Through Imka, Betty helps in facilitating vulnerable Communities/ families in terms of creating better communication, gives safe space to help families / guardians who need to air out their differences for the betterment of their well-being and those of the children. Imka helps parents, foster parents and guardians acquiring sponsorships and basic needs for their children.
With her vision, “A sustainable living for everyone, seven other members with the same ideas joined, This formed a committed team of people dedicated to solicit resources for educating, caring, empowering, and supporting the vulnerable communities in awareness, improving lives, developing skills for self-reliance.
